so, yesterday I went white water rafting. I’ve lost count to as many times as I have been but I am almost positive that the total count is over 8. I love being on the river. it was fun, as usual. last night, Bret Michaels picked Jes on “Rock of Love”. yes, I watch(ed) this show. and I was pulling for Jes – practically the whole way. I was stoked when Bret picked her. it was a good show. yesterday morning I went back to the old Kennesaw First Baptist Church – my home church. it’s always good to go back home. I hung out in the College/Singles Sunday School class (since that was who was going rafting) and with some good friends. it was good to be back. mrs. julie said I brought “levity” back to the class. apparently, levity was missing. if I were JT, I’d re-do my song. although levity doesn’t have the same ring as “sexy” does. and most people probably wouldn’t care very much if you brought levity back. Saturday was upset Saturday in college football. wow, EVERYBODY lost. here were the major upsets (in case you’ve been living under a rock…):Florida (to Auburn)Oklahoma (to Colorado)Clemson (to Georgia Tech) Penn State (to Illinois)Alabama (to Florida State)Texas (to Kansas State)Oregon (to California – who was ranked higher but still an underdog) Rutgers (to Maryland)my pick’em is all screwed up now. but I still won the week.also on Saturday, I went to the wedding reception of one of my long-time friends, Nicole Stork-Hestad now. we pretty much danced the night away. it was rockin’. we did some cha cha slide, the electric slide, the hokey pokey (yeah, at the request of yours truly). it was great. I probably have never danced that much at one time but I definitely burned some needed calories and had a LOT of fun. best wishes to Nicole and Drew. I’m glad you guys found each other and are happy together. congratulations!I’m totally going backwards in this timeline but this is my blog so I can do that. friday night, I went over to Centennial High School to watch Kell and Centennial. a couple of my former students were over there for the game and so I went to surprise/hang out with them for a little bit. Sarah was cheering and Ashley was just there watching. Corin was also there and it was great to see all of them. Kell lost to drop to 0-5 on the season but they were close to winning. Kell scored a touchdown with 1:34 left in the game to push the score to 14-13 with the extra point attempt waiting. for some reason, Kell decided to go for the win kick the extra point, tie the game at 14 and win it in overtime. I’m all for winning the game, but you’ve got to take the sure points and have confidence that your team can pull it out in the extra session. but people criticize you if go for it and miss, and they’ll criticize you for failing to win in overtime. catch-22. We’ll see how this week goes but I’m looking forward to this weekend. I’ll be leading the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade guys at Eastside’s Disciple Now this weekend. I’m pretty pumped. It’s gonna be rockin!
