4. my current feelings about sports. ready? go > i hope the Hawks do good. they killed Miami in game 1 but then almost couldn’t find their way to the court in game 2. i want to see them do well. they’ve sucked for the longest time and it’s good for them to play to sell-out crowds. the Braves need to pick it up. they started the season off great but have slacked off since the Marlins came to town. i mean, seriously? you beat the Nationals 1-0 off a bases loaded walk in the 9th? step it up. and do it now. the NFL Draft is this weekend and it was good to see that the Falcons picked up Tony Gonzalez yesterday. now, we won’t have to draft a tight end. i hope they make smart decisions this weekend. it looks like Matthew Stafford may be the first pick in the draft. i’m not sure that the Detroit Lions (who got new unis and a new logo this week) are making a smart decision. it makes sense to take the best player in the draft if you’ve got the first pick, but if you can’t protect a quarterback and don’t have a running back or receivers (with the exception of Calvin Johnson) that he can get the ball to, why would you take a quarterback? (not even to mention, a quarterback who declared early – bad move on Stafford’s part) however, it is good to see a UGA player (and possibly two) go extremely early in the draft – even though it appears that Miami’s streak of having a player taken in the first round will come to an end this year. heck, you may not even see a Miami player taken until day 2 of the draft. cornerback Bruce Johnson is Miami’s one and only hope of having a player selected on the first day. and, chances are, he won’t probably be selected within the first two rounds. 

i can’t wait for College Football season.

2. Miami lost their bowl game last Saturday night. oh well, can’t wait until next year!

3. my dad has been out of town since Callie and i came back from our honeymoon. it’s been almost like having a 2nd week of the honeymoon – except for the me having to go to work every morning.

4. Freedom Church moves to Barber Middle School this weekend! tomorrow (Saturday) we’re meeting everyone there at 9:00am to set up church. we’re meeting on Saturday because we need a little extra time to figure out where all our stuff for church goes in the new location. then, we’ll be rocking on Sunday. if you go to Freedom Church or are thinking about coming this Sunday, DO NOT BE LATE!! You do not want to miss the band’s first song. it is going to be incredible.

Acworth is about to be dominated!

thursday night: went to the Georgia Tech/Miami game with my fiancé. Miami lost. bad. it would have been better had they stayed in Coral Gables and sent word to Georgia Tech that they weren’t coming. they didn’t show up to play and looked ridiculous on the field. it was pretty embarrassing.

after the game, we came back to my office where we had left Callie’s car to find her passenger side window had been busted and her backpack stolen. it was an extremely long night and next day on Friday. thankfully, the perpetrator didn’t get away with a lot – only her laptop and iPod.

friday night: Callie and i needed a break from all that had happened the previous day so we went to the mall and bought our moms a little gift for them to wear at the wedding. i hope they like it. we’ll see…

saturday: my dad and i worked on my and Callie’s apartment. we’ve got to get that ready. we’re less than 4 weeks away from the wedding and there’s a lot of work to be done!

Callie called a glass company and they came and fixed her window at my house on saturday – in the driveway. that was pretty interesting.

we also cleaned up the house a little bit to get ready for everyone coming in town for the wedding/Christmas. i got to use our new vacuum cleaner and it worked wonderfully. and Callie and i put up the Crosby Christmas tree. it was very awkard to see the tree up before December 23. i usually put it up just in time for company to come for Christmas. to have it up before Thanksgiving is weird!

sunday Callie woke up with a potential case of pink-eye. yeah, not fun. so, needless to say, she did not make it to Freedom sunday morning. after we got done with tear-down, i went up to Canton for lunch with Callie and her family. i took a serious nap sunday afternoon. it was much needed!

i hope this week will be a little less adventurous than last week was. i am so happy to see last week leave!

but, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, i am thankful that no one was injured last week during the break-in of Callie’s car. i am thankful that we had enough money in savings to get her window fixed and she doesn’t have to drive around with a plastic bag taped to her car door. i am thankful that Callie got drops for her eye that are clearing up her pink-eye. and lastly i am thankful for Freedom Church and the great opportunity i have to serve people and help those far from God experience life in Christ!

i’ll try to make up for it here.

i thought the dude had a live bat – like the flying ones – and was going to release it inside the animal shelter to get his cat back. ha! i was WAY off! i like my story better. mine is much funnier.

now for Thursday’s post.

my awesome fiancé bought us tickets to the Miami/Georgia Tech game tonight!! i can’t wait until 7:30! we’ll be there along with a few other friends from Freedom – but we won’t be together. we’ll all be in the stadium, just not with each other.

i’m so freakin pumped! this is a HUGE game for the ‘Canes and they are riding a 5 game win streak and are 2-0 in conference games on the road this season. not to mention, they pushed their Thursday night game record to 13-1 over Virginia Tech last week in their final home game this season. Georgia Tech is coming off a bye week after a loss to UNC in which their coach, Paul Johnson, said his team played the worst they had played all season.

i’m not going to give a pick, but i know that this game will be good and that i will be in the stadium wearing my orange and green and cheering on the ‘Canes!

if Miami wins, they need UNC to lose this weekend OR need to beat NC State next Saturday to earn a trip to Tampa for the ACC Championship. if Tech wins, they make their chances of slipping into that ACC Championship game a little favorable. not to mention Miami is on top of the division right now with Georgia Tech sitting pretty at #2.

we’ll see how it all plays out tonight at 7:30pm on ESPN for all of you who won’t be at the game.

saturday watched UGA narrowly beat Auburn. Callie and i unwrapped a vacuum cleaner from a couple of families for another wedding present. celebrated a Maryland win over North Carolina that puts Miami in the drivers seat in the Coastal division of the ACC.

sunday Freedom Church in the am. the band played a song by the Beatles and a quick chorus of a song by U2 in the same service. a short afternoon nap. Hurricanes storm back into the Top 25 polls for the first time in 2 years. Freedom Generation in the pm and 11 students get saved! got home just in time to see Terence and Sarah get eliminated from Amazing Race. just about the best day you can imagine.

2. my blog will be getting an overhaul. this guy is going to help me get it started.

3. i’m getting married in 36 days. good gosh, it is getting close. a lot of people have been asking me if i’m nervous about it. i’m not nervous at all. i just want it to get here. i think i’m more tired of waiting than i’m nervous about it. i just hope i don’t say anything dumb.

2. my awesome fiancé got us tickets to the Miami/GA Tech game on November 20 for my wedding gift. I heard that Tech is planning a “white-out” for the Thursday night nationally televised ESPN primetime 7:30pm game against the ‘Canes so what did i do? i bought an orange ‘Canes jersey (#2) and bought Callie a green Miami hoodie. now we’ll stand out in the sea of white.

3. speaking of Miami, they are off this week. but UGA attempts to get back on the winning side after their embarrassing loss to Florida last week, against Kentucky this week.

UGA faces Florida in Jacksonville this week. i’m pumped up for this game. i don’t even have much to say. i just want to see the game.

4. i am so grateful to be a part of the team at Freedom Church! we work so hard day in and day out and the drive that the team has is incredible. i have never been a part of a church that wanted to make every experience the best it can possibly be as much as these guys (and lady). i am truly honored.

2. Fright Fest with a few cats from Freedom. not really cats, but people. i’ve been to Fright Fest before but it has been a while. i’m excited to go. we should have a grand ole time!

3. i paid off one of my credit cards this week! i called the company to cancel my card and the woman on the other end asked me why i wanted to do that and i replied, “well, i don’t like being in debt.” which is entirely true.

4. it is going to be a great day on Sunday at Freedom! isn’t it always? i’ll answer that for you – yes, it always is a great day at Freedom! our NEXT series continues Sunday morning and the 2nd worship experience for FreedomGeneration is Sunday night. i’m very excited. hopefully, this time i’ll be able to catch a snooze before heading back for Generation. we’ll see…

oh, and a student will walk away from FreedomGeneration as the proud owner of a band new Nintendo Wii. and if they are not proud of it, i will kick them in their hamstring. not hard, but i will do it.

2. Miami needs to bounce back tomorrow after dropping their last 2 against ACC opponents. we’ve got Central Florida this week and we’re 17 point favorites at home. hopefully, the baby ‘Canes can remember how to win this week.

UGA has a HUGE game against rival Tennessee this week as they try to rebound from the Alabama loss after a week off. the Vols don’t look quite as strong as the Dawgs but UT always seems to play UGA really well, regardless of where the game is played. hopefully, the homefield advantage will give the edge to the Dawgs.

3. Callie and i are heading out to take our engagement pictures with our photographer Neal, after church on Sunday. Neal is a great photographer and we’re really excited about him doing our wedding. check out his online photo gallery and his blog if you’ve got some free time.

4. the rest of the Freedom Church staff has been getting stretched at Catalyst over the past two days. i can’t wait to hear what they learned!
